Time Machine by H.G. Wells

Reviewed by Caroline G.

The Time Machine is an interesting and captivating science fiction and adventure novel written by H.G. Wells.
The book is about a man named The Time Traveller (as you never find out his true name) who travels from the late 1800s in England to the year 802,701 A.D.. During his time in the future, the Time Traveller discovers two races of creatures that are descendants of humans. One race, the Eloi, live above ground and are beautiful, fragile, very childlike, always playing and laughing, never working. The other race, the Morlocks, live underground and spend their time working on new machines. The Time Traveller later makes some strange and horrifying discoveries about these new people’s lifestyles and the relationship between the Eloi and the Morlocks.
The book is written very well. It is thrilling and suspenseful and really makes you, as the reader, want to keep on reading and find more out about this new world which appears utopian but really isn’t.
I recommend that you read this book. Out of a 1-5 scale of rating, I would rate this book a 4-4.5. I would give it that rating because I thought that it was an interesting book with a unique idea.
