The Hidden Oracle by Rick Riordan

--Review by Tony

The Trials of Apollo: The Hidden Oracle, is a fantasy book by Rick Riordan that is the first in the Trials of Apollo series. The book mainly focuses on a story based on characters from Greek Mythology and the Percy Jackson series.

In the story, Apollo is a god who has been banished to be a human by his father Zeus until he passes some trials to become a god again. The book mainly details Apollo’s adventures to become a god again (The Hidden Oracle mainly talks about the first one) with his companion Meg to save Camp Half Blood, a place for special demigod children (half-god children) in New York, from evil forces that have been devising a sinister plan.

The book includes some humor and twists and is a great book overall as Apollo tries to master no longer having his godly powers. There is also a lot of action and adventure as Apollo and Meg must overcome many obstacles and challenges throughout the story. Rick Riordan does an amazing job tying together The Trials of Apollo with some of his other books like the Percy Jackson books by connecting the plot to some of the older Percy Jackson books as well as incorporating a few characters from the Percy Jackson series.

Overall the book was great and I would give it 5 stars. However, if you haven’t read or don’t know anything about the Percy Jackson series, the book may be harder to understand than other book. If you have read or know the general basics of the Percy Jackson series then this book is great and provides a new, interesting book to read.
