Hoot by Carl Hiaasen

Hoot is a great book about the setbacks of
urbanization. Roy Eberhardt, the new kid in
school, was just trying to fit in when some odd
friends came into his life. Soon he realizes that
he is a small part in the bigger battle between
man and nature.

I loved this book because of the ever twisting
plot and underlying message of persistence,
determination, and perseverance. I rate the book
3 ½ stars because of the mild language in some
spots and opinions about the police force. I would recommend this book t
o any middle schooler who doesn’t mind a little ‘flavor’ in wording. If you
like any realistic fiction book you’ll probably like this book too.
