Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Review by Annabelle Y.

Wonder is a terrific realistic fiction book about a boy named Auggie, who has a disease that causes his face to look different from most people. Because of his disease, he is homeschooled until 5th grade, when his parents decided that he should be able to attend a private middle school called “Beecher Prep”. But at his school he faces a lot of challenges such as bullying and in general, just meeting everyone.  I think this would be a great book for people who love realistic fiction.

The book Wonder by R.J. Palacio, is very exciting, humorous, and is full of curiosities. It has been one of my all time favorite books. One of the things that makes it so great is that it makes you think. Many times while reading the book you will find yourself wondering about what is going to happen next. How could a character possibly be so mean? The main character Auggie, goes through some rough times and has to make friends at a new school. Auggie has sort of a “Freaky” facial appearance that he was born with. This book teaches lots of life lessons, like why friendship is important. It makes you remember that what is right, is not always what other people say is right. I would recommend this books for ages 10-12. It’s a great book that I think everyone should read when they have time.
