Holes by Louis Sachar

Reviewed by Ganesh P.

Holes is a book written by Louis Sachar. It has won a John Newbery Medal. The genre is realistic fiction. This book is very good. It explains the story of an innocent person getting caught even though he did not do anything.

The book is about a person named Stanley Yelnats. He is very poor. He has a curse from his great grandfather. The curse had traveled down generations. A shoe falls from the sky. He is very happy because he is poor. He starts running. A police sees him running. He finds out that he was running with a famous runners shoe. He gets caught and sent to a juvenile camp. The story starts from there.

The book has a lot vivid descriptions. It feels like you are actually there. The book takes place in a desert. Here is a description of the desert and his feelings from the book.  The main character is very hard not to like. He is clever, cunning, and brave. He always does the right thing even though there is consequences. He is not scared of his enemy.

There are many twists and turns. It is a very enjoyable book. I rate this book 5 stars out of 5!
