The Beckoning Shadow by by Katharyn Blair

Image result for the beckoning shadowVesper fled away from home the moment she escaped the ambulance she was shoved in the back of.  She was trying to get away as soon as possible, she couldn’t believe what she’d done. She used her own power - more like a curse - against the ones she loved.  It’d never slipped like that before, and would never again. Or so she thought. Vesper reluctantly joined a group of Oddities, her type of magical people, after a few of them saved her after a shooting in a restaurant.  They teach Vesper the ways of life when Oddities can be themselves as she yearns to finally get rid of the terrible curse of a power she beholds that tore her family to pieces.
This book was a fast moving page turner with a powerful, vast vocabulary range thrown
in for a plus. The 463 paged book was out of my hands and back on the shelf within only
a few days. It was interesting and every chapter ended with a good kick, tempting you
not to put it down. Taunting you to continue reading and not go to bed. It was a tender,
touching story about her haunting past filled with action packed violent scenes and
adventure after every page.

I loved this book and I would rate it a full 5 stars.  It was beautifully written and there
were no slow parts. If you like a quick read with lots of action and more of a realistic
super power novel, I highly recommend this book. --Review by A. Gargan
