The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz starts
off in Kansas with a great storm. Dorothy
and her dog, Toto, got swept up in the
cyclone, to land in a different world, in
a place called the land of the munchkins.
She meets many wacky characters, such
as the scarecrow, who wanted a brain,
the tin man, who wanted a heart, and
the cowardly lion, who wanted courage.
She also met an enemy, The Wicked Witch
of the East, who wanted her silver shoes, but got squashed by Dorothy’s
house. Then, The Wicked Witch of the West, who was sisters with
the squashed Witch, wanted revenge. They travel to the Emerald city,
to get a brain for the scarecrow, a heart for the tin man, and courage
for the lion. Their journey is filled with lessons and adventure, but
another conflict arises when they reach the Emerald City.

I rate this book 4.5 out of 5 stars because it was a very heart-felt book. I

t showed that even if you haven’t known someone for that long, you can
still care for them. I took off half a star just because it was a little slow moving
for me. If you enjoy books like Peter Pan, you would enjoy this book. They
are both filled with imagination. Next time you are wondering what to read,
I hope you consider The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.--Review by Luke B.
