Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Deep End by Jeff Kinney

This book is called Diary of The Wimpy Kid: The Deep End. This book starts with a boy named Greg Heffley and his family including his mom (Susan Heffley), his dad (Frank Heffley), his brother (Rodrick Heffley), living in his gammy’s basement because his own house was in repairs. Greg and his family got really bored in the basement because all they got to do was play board games and watch TV. So, his mom as always wanted to do something fun as a family and so they went to different things to try different things but kept getting kicked out of it. They finally stopped at paradise, campers Eden, they all thought this was the one. Once they got out things were going great for a few days until one day the bridge that led people outside the camp broke down because of a storm. Everyone was going to the camp store to get everything they had, but as always Greg found a solution, they put their van under the bridge as support, after that people fled the camp. Greg and his family had the camp all to themselves.

I loved this book because of all the goofiness like when Greg and his family started to smell because a skunk had sprayed them, so they had to do everything (even something like tomato juice which smelled worse than the skunk smell itself). My favorite part of this whole book was when Greg started to be “one with the wild” after he got lost in the forest while hiking. I could connect with this book because my family during summer vacation is just like the Heffley’s, they are always crazy about what to do and how to do it (planning).

I would recommend this book to 8-13 year old because it is funny, fun to read and some words are very funky. If you like spending time with family, and friends then this is a book for you. It is family friendly and really funny. It's great to get closer to your family. I would give this book a 5 star rating.
