Unwanteds: Island of Silence by Lisa McMann

After the gate is destroyed the Unwanteds of Artime are hoping they can live peacefully with the Wanteds and Necessaries. Although the Necessaries welcome the idea of Artime, most even move there, the Wanteds are angry. Angry that the Necessaries are leaving them, angry that the Unwanteds took the life of their leader, and angry that their new leader is ruining their perfect society. It doesn’t take long for the Wanteds to start attacking Artime, with Aaron to lead them. As the attacks get worse and some lives are even lost, Mr. Today plans to take a holiday, he just needs to find someone to leave in charge. But all plans change at the arrival of 2 children from a distant island. As Alex’s friends grow bored they start to want an adventure, but what starts out as something playful quickly turns into something dark and dangerous that will change the lives of everyone in Artime forever.

I deeply enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend it. Each character is well written and you get to find out more about them as the book progresses. The relationships that are built are amazing. You get to watch as the characters go through ups and downs. Lani becomes stronger and Megan has to take the hatred from her family well, Samheed struggles to accept what his family has done, and Alex finds his confidence again. The characters' emotions feel real and will tear your heart apart while making you cry tears of joy all at the same time. We get to unlock the secrets of Mr.Today along with the characters, and the story is so well written I guarantee you will feel like you are in the book. When Alex’s confidence slowly starts to come back you get to feel the rush of energy just like he did.

Although this book is so diverse I think anyone could read it and love it. People who like Harry Potter or Keeper of the Lost Cities will definitely love it. This book is a must read for all ages and will have you on the edge of your seat to the very end.
